Owls and the Balkans aside...

Not that i eat out much but the Moat House is a good place for a special occasion. I've eaten well the times i've been there - though admittedly this has been as much compliments to the farmer as the chef. Nice location (M6 duck pond!) too.

I like to have coffee 'n' cake at the Grove if you can get the window seats upstairs looking out at St. Mary's, only for the view really.

Pie and Ale House is a good all-rounder, certainly the best 'ambience' in town.

Thanks for the Karma 11 recommendation tek-monkey. Will give them a try when we next eat out!

No probs. Really need to go again myself, been a while. The place always looks dead, which is offputting, but they then seat people round the corner so they can't be seen. Food was lovely though, and if the set meal* for £10.95 is on still its a bargain too!

*Pappadoms, any starter, any main, rice or naan. Extra few quid if you choose a fish dish IIRC.

EDIT: Original thread here, in case its needed.

Not entirely sure what category this falls into but there is a place on Mill St. that sells v. good hot pork baps - better than Crabbery St. and closer to Vicky Park, which on a fine day is a fine place to dine.

We had a jolly reasonable, and very lovely dinner at the Bear grill last night, £30 for 2 of us, no special deal or vouchers (and annoying I'd forgotten my Stafford Card which would have made it even cheaper!)

According to the leaflet among my junkmail when I got home last night Perfect Pizza are offering a 'Festive Feast' over the Christmas period. Mmmmm, can't wait!! They'll be open 4.00 to 10.00 Chrimbo Eve & Chrimbo Day.
Hope their ingredients are fresher than their marketing bumf.

I can't post links, but if you look in the Out and About section,it's just under the Stafford Chat bit, i'm pretty sure you will find loads of recommendations from fellow Forum users.

I don't really eat out much duck, one place I haven't tried, but will in the very near futute is The Pie & Ale House, hereafter known as PandA.
Bit out of Stafford is the all you can eat Indian at Penkridge (i'm sure someone will be along with its name in a min). Other than that,if I were you,i'd just try a few places out yourself,we all have different tastes etc and I think part of the fun is experimenting.

What sort of food is preferred? I'm a curry man myself, and if you read the thread on Karma II you'll see I love the place. For Chinese I'd say Essence of the Orient, but its been a year since I ate there.
