The blue bins have arrived! Whoopee!
I've seem 'em all lining the roads down Baswich lane this afternoon... but we still haven't got them on Wildwood yet.tek-monkey said:They have? What area are you in?
But no one is forcing you to let the council have it... you are perfectly free to put it in your own compost bin if you want to.jimbob23 said:It pisses me off that they're using the brown bins to get a load of free fertiliser for Council parks, gardens etc. Plus, as I understand it, with the advent of the blue bins, you'll be able to put shredded paper in the brown ones. Shall we recycle paper to make more paper goods? Nah, let's put it on the flower beds.

Remember to put a little of Chairman Moa's mixture on it! If you missed the previous thread on the matter ... p*ss on it! Easier for gentlemen than the ladies.gk141054 said:But no one is forcing you to let the council have it... you are perfectly free to put it in your own compost bin if you want to.
what a bizarre point of view.. why on earth would you begrudge the council your waste, if they can do something with it?? it's not like you even have to use it - they don't impose penalties for non-usage (like they are talking about doing with recycling).. if you don't like it, just ignore the bin (like i do).. surely they are doing you a favour by providing extra space for your garden waste, so it doesn't tie up your normal bin? if they can make use of it, more power to themjimbob23 said:It pisses me off that they're using the brown bins to get a load of free fertiliser for Council parks, gardens etc. Plus, as I understand it, with the advent of the blue bins, you'll be able to put shredded paper in the brown ones. It ultimately saves the council money because they can sell your rubbish more easily.gk141054 said:Ultimately its saving the tax payer money by recycling because it costs the council less in landfill charges, plus it helps the environment...
shredded paper, soak, mashed, compressed, and left to dry makes excellent firebricks.Wormella said:Oh and shredded paper is very good for compost, as is scrunched up newspaper - it distributes pockets of air as the compost matures, making for healthy compost,
Got ours today, I'm on Oxford Grdns, a stones throw from the tip, so don't think thats the way their distributing them.Silverfish said:February for the blue bins in Castletown. We're so close to the Chell Road recycling centre, they won't make that much difference anyway, so I presume that's why we're last on the list.
Bloody hell. How much time do they think we have to go sorting through our rubbish. AND it probably gets shipping to sodding China anyway. It's just not cricket.gon2seed said:Loads of fellas in hi-viz jackets roaring around, lorry blocking the road, loads of banging and shouting...

Really, I'm not joking.
I'll get the the info on the price-per-ton they're getting.
Yeah - I was surprised when Hubby said ours had turned up last night - very smart looking. It means we can free up some room in our kitchen where the green box lives.MISS T said:Got ours today, I'm on Oxford Grdns, a stones throw from the tip, so don't think thats the way their distributing them.Silverfish said:February for the blue bins in Castletown.
