Admin edit: Moved post to new thread. Originally posted in the Karma II thread, following its unfortunate closure.

There's a banner up there now, proclaiming the arrival of 'Narvana', Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, with 50% opening discounts. No timescale seemed obvious to me, so keep your eyes open when in the vicinity.

If they have the promised Karma chef, I'll give it a go
The Karma chef was definitely going to stay on for the introductory period but not past the first few weeks - his brother is opening a restaurant somewhere else and he is going to work with him. I suggest we need to find out where that is! We whould recognise some of the waiters, too. When we last went in one of them was saying that he had a job with the new owners.

I've just come past and there's quite a bit of work going on inside at the moment.
Half-hearted at best - i'm afraid it'll take a bit more than that to wrest the crown fro' basil's head.

You should have walked in and enquired of said workmen.

If they did not understand try Polish, the universal language of builders formerly Irish.

I was 'in company', and so elected to merely observe and record. The work appeared to be nearing completion. The chaps involved looked to be from somewhere rather more eastern than Poland, and, whilst I might have approached them in Irish or Czech*, I suspect that their English would have been superior..

*Near enough to Polish, I think.

Gonna answer here, rather than further derail the Spice Island thread.

Just went past, not open and no idea when it will be. Menu on the window, seems alright although my very quick perusal didn't really spot anything amazing. Nobody inside, lights are out not sure how much work remains to be done. Saw the signs for outside in there, but not much else as was in a rush. Suffice to say it wont be open tonight.

I did the same and didn't spot anything unusual on the menu. Prices aren't too bad e.g. Balti's about £5. 10% discount on collections.

There is a website and telephone number in the window www.narvana.co.uk and 603222 but the website isn't up yet.
