Narvana - New Indian & Bangladeshi cuisine restaurant

I don't like lamb! Is it a take your own drinks place?
We always BYOB.. It's amazing, you can eat in for basically the price of a decent takeaway, except you get waited on hand & foot!

My favourite is chicken hyperabadi - chicken tikka, new potatoes, spinach - mmmmm

Sorry chaps, I have never been to this restaurant, and I hate to be so pedantic, but the cuisine is not hyperabadi, it is HYDERABADI !

Apologies if I have missed the point and the mis-spelling is deliberate.

Anyway, the reviews are so good that I will have to visit there myself, though it is probably 10 years since I last ate in an 'Indian' restaurant.

I'm just going from what it says on their menu:

I know menus are often full of spelling errors, but if I'm eating there, I call it what they call it! It's a lovely dish @ Narvana.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Well I went and I can't see myself going back.

Whilst the food was mainly nice, the service was verrrrryyyyyyyy slllllloooooooowwwwww and haphazard.

We had to wait nearly an hour for our starter and the best part of half an hour for our main course after the starter plates had been cleared.

Me and my niece ordered rice with our main course and they forgot to cook it and we had to wait yet again for it to arrive. Also my niece had a Dhansak which tasted weird. It's hard to describe just how it actually tasted. It was replaced and she said the replacement was better.

All in all it didn't encourage me to want to go back.

Bugger, I hate it when you hype a place up and someone has a bad time!

I must admit the only problem I've ever had with Narvana was a delivery order on a Saturday night that took hours to arrive and tasted nothing like the same dish I'd had a few weeks before in the restaurant. It was soon sorted out as soon as I mentioned it to Mo.

I think they do get very busy and disjointed at weekends hence why we go in the week mostly.

To be honest the takeaways never taste as good as in the restaurant to me. Not sure why, sure it's the same chef! I guess it's best as soon as it's ready, rather than half an hour later. Could also be the atmosphere, always like eating out.

Same with everything though; we all have a gripe against certain banks/taxi companies/restaurants, and we all know other people who are very happy with the places we're griping about.

Narvana are the most consistent curry house in town (IMO), and everyone has a bad day. I've never had a bad meal there and will continue to use them, and I know people who go to places I'd never go to again.

I didn't have a bad time, it was just disappointing that it took so long to get our food. I won't rule out going again (despite saying I can't see myself going back) but I won't rush to go again if you know what I mean. The food, once we got it, was good bar my niece's dish but she was happy with her food once it had been changed.

Probably just one of those nights as there were a lot of people in.

Whenever I've been to Narvana as a couple or small group (up to 4), we've had excellent service and food. Whenever I've been in a larger group the service has been slow. They just don't seem to be particularly well geared up for serving 12 people at once!
The food hasn't suffered though

Had a similiar issue with service the other week...went on a Saturday night... sat down for 8pm, got our main food at 10pm....we were just about to walk out im afraid after being promised food at about 09:30pm but just as we started to walk out it turned up.

Was cracking once it arrived but I'm afraid its a case of getting to big for its boots!

We are regulars too....but was very disappointed!

Another fine meal tonight, if anything they were waiting for us rather than what the rest of you have experienced lately.

Sooo - curry delivered (10 Mins before estimated delivery time) & devoured....

Husband says :- best curry he's EVER had, & we're never ordering from anywhere else again!

I thought it was lush, we had Murgi Masala, Garlic Chili Chicken & some sides, Keema rice & Keema & Garlic Nan....I forgot to ask for a menu though :( Think I'll try something hotter though next time...(I like hot & sour)...any recommendations folks?

Lamb Tawa is lovely, I don't think its too hot although others I know do. Saying that I did ask for extra chillies on Wednesday!
