I think it's the "Great British Beer Company" that's been registered.
Our friend might not be quite ready for the "Great British Beer Festival"!

Very true, but I am expecting the GBBC to run a GBBF as soon as the opportunity arises.

Apparently Icon and the newsagents have objected against The Devil's bottlehouse.

Steve at Izaac Walton says that there is someone else also interested in the old Railway pub so it may reopen as something else :-(

He also said that he may set up a little area at the back of his brewery if the Borough Council allow it.

It's competition for the newsagents but why would icon object?
But "competition" isn't valid grounds for objecting to a planning application.
It's not like 25 years ago when publicans objecting to a proposed Wetherspoons claimed that "there's already enough pubs in" whatever town it was.

Just seen the Facebook Post, it's not the newsagents but 'express curtains' that have also objected...

Ah, he's edited that since I saw it!

I think Express Curtains probably have issues with their open doorway - although they may also share backyards I guess.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure I'm too impressed by business owners that air dirty laundry like that and try to incite a social media mob against other business owners.

Either the objection is legit, and they won't get the licence ; or it's not, and they will. Claims of personal vendettas won't change that

Absolutely agree. Really poor form to be naming and shaming established local businesses AND neighbours.

No I totally disagree, let’s take for example of these are malicious as suggested, why not name and shame?

Name & Shame is often the best way forward! After knowing Jack for many years, he takes everything he does with a lot of thought and would not, in my opinion do this if it was not to genuinely prove a point.
