I only went to a handful of pubs when a child, it was a very rare event. I was drinking in them by 15 though and worked in a nightclub from 16 because nobody cared about underage drinkers back then!

Unfortunately I'm not the tallest so when I finally could go into a pub no one would believe I was 18. I would have had no chance at 15 !

Think I was 8 or 9 when I sat outside a pub with a bag of crisps and a half of mild shandy - probably 98% lemonade and such a low alcohol content that it was well below the legal alcohol limit for children. Certainly drank in pubs when I was 14 0r 15 and at school quite a few of the 5th & 6th form went down the pub on Friday lunchtimes. Unwritten rule, behave and use the public bar as the teachers in the saloon bar didn't wan't to be disturbed.

I was still getting asked for id in my early 30s, but at 15 I could drink anywhere in town. Even the club I worked at let me in and they couldn't deny knowing my age!

Odd, I went before the beer festival and found the gravy lovely as was the carvery in general. I'm yet to have an actually bad meal there, although as stated many times on this thread my expectations of such a place are hardly michelin starred.

Mind you, after hearing someone at a wedding this weekend send back the fillet steak because it wasn't cooked enough I've realised people have remarkably different tastes!
