I love the format of these sort of places; and a Hungry Horse on the Castlefields / Newport Road would go down a treat with local families who could walk there for a meal and nobody has to drive.

Yeah, but not too close to my house eh? Those smelly commoners might lower the house prices ;)

Edit: Just for the record, I know more people who resent the castlefields estate itself and objected to its building than I do people who resent the planned buIldIng of this pub. I remember when all this was fields, and I'm not that old.

I think it only right that if and when this thing is actually built, we should amend this to 'I remember when all of this was badgers - EVIL badgers'.

Not that i'm proposing this should be compulsory.

yeah - if you check out the menu, and there is genuinely nothing on there that you like, i'd be surprised.. way more choice than chambers, for starters!

There is one item on the menu that I might consider eating if I was really pushed, but I would have to be desperate. Guess I'm not the sort of person the pub is designed for.

i'm with Noah, i am simply not the person they're aiming after.

The dishes may well be lovely sounding (to some) on paper, but where the ingredients come from is another matter

I have a conscience when it comes to knowing where the food I eat comes from, and the Hungry Horse doesn't give any such detail of where the food they serve, comes from, but if anyone has seen said information then please, point me in the right direction!

More choice (impo) tends to mean less homemade, and more; freezerpacked, leave at room temperature for 2 minutes then microwave for 20 minutes, ding! ...and serve, that'll be £7.49 thankyou, call again!

...i can't see Badger Baps £2.99, anyone see them?

I think its safe to say if you care about animal welfare or standards then you never eat in a chain pub/restaurant/fast food outlet. Places like the Hollybush tell you which butcher provides their meat, probably best heading there (tis lovely food too).

ah right, gotcha.. that's different then - i thought you meant you didn't like any of the dishes on the menu, which i found hard to believe as it is vast! if, as tek says, you care about where it's from/if it's cooked by a proper chef/etc. then that pretty much rules out all chain restaurants..

if, like me, you couldn't give a badger about such things, places like this are brilliant.. amazing choice, decent prices, and good atmosphere for a good meal & night out with friends :D:up:

EXACTLY!!
Though i wouldn't say all restaurants, you just have to do your homework when you decide to visit these places.

db, you couldn't give a badger about such things? oh well, though you've Graze.com as an attachment in your posts, interesting.
