Announcement soon on ticket office closures

And on HS2 delays

And on Avanti franchise removal

And on alcohol on trains

And on new price rises

And on a call to return to office based working
Currently getting to work if it involves using an Avanti 'service' (I use the term loosely as they don't provide anything close to a service) is nigh on impossible. Franchise removal can't come soon enough. They're a disgrace.

I have relatives trying to get from London to Liverpool in December. There are no tickets for sale for any service on national rail and a trip to Finsbury Park ticket office reveals that no tickets are for sale as no one yet knows if any trains will even run. Its not a strike weekend to my knowledge, just that Avanti can't be sure of providing a single train. From our capital to a major northern city and all the towns in between. We are literally a third world nation when it comes to travel. In fact, I've been to very poor countries who provide a better train service

Not that's it's very much help to you but you can get Avanti, Cross Country, etc to send you a message when the tickets go on sale.

I did this recently and Cross Country told about tickets for an Avanti train about 3 weeks before Avanti bothered to.

Thankyou. That is helpful. Cross Country are really good.

Not a new train but an old train, steam locomotive 61306 'Mayflower' is scheduled to pass through Stafford tomorrow (Friday 28 October) at 15:03, heading north, on a test run, ahead of returning to mainline service.

Cancelled, I understand.

Possibly heading to SVR on Saturday now.

Avanti should have their contract terminated immediately

The only way to guarantee a return journey from Stafford to London is to take the half hour train to Birmingham and then go from Moor Street via Chiltern Railways to Marylebone

What about the green and grey as its known in our house, London Northwestern?

Agree on avanti. They no longer run a train service, more a shitshow

Enjoying a drop of red.
Because of the strikes, affecting the main rail operators, it looks like there has just been the one passenger service from Stafford today (returning later this evening).

As a result, I believe Stafford will have had a 100% steam hauled passenger service today. I wonder when that last happened.
It's the future.
