Bizz might be booming at the sports place, but what's happening at Newbeacon site on the other side of the road? News flow seems to have dried up since last year when our MP dropped by.

My contact at North Staffs Poly says legal proceedings have begun against the tennants because their students likeness is being used to endorse another business

So are you saying that images from North Staffs Poly (something which hasn't existed for many years) are being used to advertise the New Beacon Group school?

Are New Beacon Group tenants? Haven't they bought the campus then?

It doesn't. Neither does North Staffs Poly.

As i understand it

The new beacon group are the tennants and are advertising their business using materials that are not their own and somebody pictured in the advertising material has made a complaint

I can attest that many of the fine young chaps pictured here were indeed my students, and I note a lot of the images (which I'd not seen before) bear our logo on them.

I see the new owners are doing their bit to fend off the stigma that Chinese companies don’t give two hoots about IP law.

More on topic: the school seems to be doing a lot of talking but I have yet to see much on the Octagon side of things - the offices, incubator, etc.

Could be a good place for a maker/hackerspace (as I’ve mentioned before, one in Stafford would be nice, especially now that I need to machine a large bar for a spinning weapon) in the Octagon basement I think.

Another grapevine said that Newbeacon's second employee was the retired on health grounds former council chief exec, the one who put such diligent work into losing the uni.
