Nightmare Doctors

I went through a very similar experience. We stayed at our previous, wonderful, surgery almost a decade after we moved, by forgetting to mention we had a new address.

Eventually I had a referral and we were rumbled. I think we’re probably at the same surgery as you, Bob. I’ve not met the doctors but I got very anxious trying to get to the pharmacy during my working hours, standing outside and getting shouted at “Not that side!” by someone I couldn’t see, through a half-opened window. And oh my goodness, the endless signs.

I kept asking whether I could use the fantastic system I’d previously had, where a pharmacy ordered my repeat prescription and was open for me to collect seven days a week. The answer was always ‘no’ until two or three months ago when they introduced digital prescriptions.

If you pop into the independent pharmacy across the road, they’ll help you get it set up. You can order repeat prescriptions online using Patient Access and the pharmacy texts when it’s ready to collect - usually the same day. It’s worked really well for me and I hope it makes your life less stressful.

That’s brill. Thanks @flossietoo

Will give the pharmacy a call, it was last year when I last asked so things may have moved on a little since then, though ‘care navigators’ (receptionists) who answer the phone at this particular surgery failed to mention this little nugget when asked recently. Just to clarify we’re all talking about a small town that begins with the letter E?

Wait till you have to visit a doctor up the wonky stairs with the headroom so low you feel like you’re doing the limbo (literally no exaggeration here at all)

So far, touch wood, I haven’t needed to go inside.
