Very true.Sheridan was invited to stay at Chetwynd House, by invite of the owner William Chetwynd, when visiting Stafford as our MP. Stafford was a notorious Rotten Borough at the time, so Sheridan's tenure was almost certainly 'bought'. There is one theory that Tipping Street gets its name from being the part of town where local 'candidates' put themselves up for bidding - 'tipping' the electorate with cash bribes for their vote.
The franchise was much shorter then.
He was the Theo of that age - she gets the far roomier Sandon Hall, of course, but the privilege is much the same. Amazingly, she manages to garner votes without even having to shell out any readies.
Even more amazingly, the franchise is much wider now.
So what exactly does she do to keep the wolf away?Very true.
And Theo doesn't have to write plays to keep the wolf from the door.
Not sure if it’s the write thread but can you knowledgeable people help. I’m have a debate at work couple of us think there was a club on north walls some years ago, not the Labour club, Riley’s or Kenny’s but for the life of us can’t remember it’s name any of you know! Hopefully we’ve got the right place and not made fools of ourselves
I Remember the blind centre across the road from labour club( is blind centre and houses near to it still there now, or gone??)Depending upon exactly what 'club' might mean, the 'Blind Centre' hosted meetings for a few organisations, the Gramophone Society for one.
Charisma. Pretty dire place though. Not sure if it’s the write thread but can you knowledgeable people help.
