When this was a hit (many Moons ago) I had just started by first job at Ternhill Helicopter Training School (for the Met Office.) I was living in a sort of Nissan Hut with several other RAF types (known as 'crabs' or 'crab fats' in the trade.) I wasn't that far away from home, about 20 miles as the fly crows, but it felt like the middle of nowheresville.
Jet Harris left the Shadows effectively because Cliff Richards was having an affair with his wife and he drank as a result of the depression he felt. Tony Meehan went with him in sympathy.

Enough of the soppiness ....
I once had a drink with Ozzy Osborne in the lounge of the Prince of Wales (my local at the time.) An old mate of mine used to do a bit of roadying for him. He lived near Stafford for a while back then, somewhere out Derrington way I think.
