Significantly larger than a mistle thrush & with a typical corvid beak. Ditto with jay and no blue on the wings. Familiar with both of those. Thanks for trying anyway.
Occasional odd coloured crows do seem to exist.

The Hoopoe hasn't been reported since Friday evening, so it may have moved on.

The Hoopoe has reportedly been eaten by another bird.

Looked like a fairly well built, rather funny lookin' crow, but head, neck & shoulders a mid brown colour and rest of body a pale buff colour. Any ideas?

Little Egrets are becoming something of a regular bird around Stafford, albeit in ones and twos. Despite being relatively large and white, they can sometimes do a good job at hiding in amongst the vegetation. They have slowly colonised this country over the last 30 years or so, being one of a number of species which is expanding its range northwards.
Walked along the path between the former GEC Measurents St Leonards Avenue, under the train line, and across Penk to the Canal at Baswich. Loads of flooding, there has been for months. Two Little Egrets in different spots and loads of other Wildfowl and swans! Lovely to see but as the water clears it leaves an unsightly amount of debris and refuse, particularly in the trees!
