Angled parking is more efficient - around 70% was mentioned on a recent Radio5Live item, I believe. The only 'drawback' is that (to presumably to get this level of efficiency) the approaches to the spaces must be "one-way".

Stumbled across quite the most obnoxious chap in Aldi on Radford Bank just now. Parked in a disabled spot in his white Range Rover Evoque just because he saw a single man parking in a parent and child parking space...
