This machine will not have its capabilities stretched, only used for browsing, Skype, storing photos, that sort of thing. Nothing more than a simple office machine would ever do. Does that mean the 64 bit issue is ok?

Yeah that will be fine, i run both machines using win 7 64 bit and everything works fine including games

Glad to hear it!!! How long has 64 bit been in common usage now? I am still 32 bit all the way to my quad core.

It's not really in common usage sofa, it offers little advantage to most people, although when doing complicated things in photoshop and premiere i have noticed some improvements in performance, albeit nothing to write home about.

you can always run a 64 bit processor as a 32 bit one with the right version of windows/ubuntu etc.

Biggest advantage w/ 64bit processor is the mount of RAM it can address. A 32bit processor can only support 4GR RAM maximum, a 64bit processors can support up to a terabyte.

Some how I don't think you'll be putting that much in your machine though sofa :P

I feel better for knowing that now - I had always wondered what it was all about!!!

And I thought I was up on it by knowing what RISC stood for!
