My phone's doing that thing again where I get silence on my end, but the caller can hear me (swearing at my phone, mostly).

@proactive s suggestion of switching to Google phone worked up untill the last week or so & now I'm back to square one. Anyone have any suggestions, I have a Samsung Galaxy a22

What network are you with? I had that for a bit but it’s stopped now

Tesco/o2 is terrible for that issue. That issue and also calls going straight to voicemail without ringing was why I left o2 after 15 years.

I’d advise you to do the same.

Really, I didn't have the same problem when I had a Huawei with them, it's only started with this Samsung.

Ohhh, yes, also lots of calls to me got straight to voicemail without my phone ringing, I wasn't aware till you've just said....thank you.

So last night my son knocked my absolutely pristine S21 Ultra, which has never been out of its case, off the table and it hit a table leg screen first. I now have no phone, it works in the sense things seem to be happening with it but I have no display. As of right now I am getting alerts through to my watch but I'll lose that most likely next time I charge the watch, so am quickly trying to sort the PAC code plus anything else I may need.

So, anyway, looks like I need a new phone and that probably entails a contract as I'm skint. I can see a good offer on ID mobile, who use 3, does that work OK in Stafford nowadays?

I'm on 3, it's okay, a bit patchy in the town centre but not too bad. My OH moved to EE last year though and the signal in more remote parts of the country is way better.

Does that mean he's now standing up??? Walking round the furniture?

He runs! Hit 18 months last week, and is extremely mobile. Can now open most doors in the house too, including my mums front door so now needs to be on a chain. Doesn't speak yet though, got that to come I guess!

House Insurance claim?

Very happy with my Samsung A54. I currently use two SIM cards in it, Tesco (O2) PAYG and a Lebara (Vodafone) monthly SIM contract, £5.90 per month (£0.99 per month for the first 6 months), which includes unlimited calls, texts and 5GB data.

Both O2 and Vodafone seem to be pretty good across Stafford (I can even get Vodafone 5g on Doxey Marshes).

You should be able to use voice control still: “Ok Google, where’s the nearest adoption centre?”

Serious note: EE are the only ones with 5G here, so bear that in mind. If you felt like turning to the dark side (of which I turned to many years ago) you can finance a phone with Apple on 0%

Edit: I stand corrected, 3 have it too

Both family members who have been with 3 have left very quickly due to terrible coverage. I once tried a 3 sim to see what coverage was like at home (I have WFH for 11 years so needed to know before switching) and I couldn’t even make a call if I was inside the house.

I'm on Three and 4G coverage is generally ok but it's hit and miss inside buildings.

If you go down to the Three shop they can tell you what coverage is like at particular locations and also which phones are best for that area.

They actually advised me to buy a phone about £100 cheaper than the one I was looking at because it would work better at my house.

Three also do an unlimited phone and data package for about £35 but you do have to pay for certain texts and calls.

My deal also has a free 30gig allowance for tethered data if you want to use your phone as a hotspot.

House Insurance claim?
Good shout but check what the policy covers first.

One of the dog's accidently pulled my laptop off the table when she caught the mains cable and I made a claim.

A few days later I had a call from my house insurance company pointing me to the clause that explained that I wasn't covered for accidents caused by pets or rodents.

They then had the cheek to increase my premium because I'd had an accident even though it wasn't even a recognised claim. A change of insurance company fixed that one.

Certainly getting 5G with 3 in Penkridge. 3 coverage much better than it once was. Find all companies have odd spots where there is poor coverage.

Interestingly, across 2 phones on O2 we had basically no data availability.

I could be sitting in the Hough, unable to load a web page… meanwhile my car was getting a 150mbit speed test result. It was so bad that they let us out of both 24 month contracts just 2 months in. That was with someone personally handling our case from O2/Virgin Business as well, they couldn’t find a resolution at all.

Full signal, there’s something very very wrong with O2/Virgin’s network that’s beyond the mast/phone connection. IIRC it was problematic all the way to Birmingham as well.
