Another stress I could do without.

My daughter was denied a place in our preferred Primary School, the school in question is out of our catchment area and received 35 applications and accept only 30. With no sibling already at the school we’re going to be bottom of the pile.

There is no nursery in our catchment area, my daughter has attended the nursery where all the children go onto the school we didn’t get, since she was 10 months old. My 6 month old daughter also attends the same nursery. I know them and I trust them and after fearing we wouldn’t get into the school I looked at other childcare options and not one of them made me feel like I would want them to look after my baby. So we’re sticking with the nursery.

When I go back to work I could have dropped them both off at 7.30am and collected them both at 6pm with the nursery doing the school run. Now I will be dropping one off at nursery then coming back past my house to drop another off at school at 9am (as the before and after school club are already booked up with older kids) then having to leave at 3pm – I can see that going down well for the next 10 years.

I have the appeals paperwork in front of me but if I’m honest it’s hurting my head and what I need to do/put is not really sinking in. Has anyone been through the appeals process?

Basically, it's a case of getting all the rules and regulations and seeing how they apply to your situation. I don't have kids but I've been through various bureaucratic BS so I have a vague idea of how it all works...
