Just wondering, what % of the population can swim ? Obviously measured against a pro-rata representative count which counters any result with current population compared to anglo-saxon times when records were not compiled.....

As an ex Esporta member purely for the pool, I can understand how aggrieved everyone feels. The pool facilities were brilliant.
However, if these pools paid off there would be more of them. Puregym and others like them don't want a pool due to the costs involved and those with pools such as Virgin feel they should sell them off because they aren't profitable - because not enough people are paying to use the facilities.
It comes back to:
"Support what you've got because if you don't, you'll lose it"

its a pity there taking the pool out if they could put a gym and swim package together for 30 ish quid id sign up. ATM the only place that does that is Stafford leisure centre. which as others have said is over crowded. which means there doing something right. i suppose.

If the membership was more affordable at Esporta/Virgin then then more people would have joined and the pool would have been a nightmare. It's not the biggest one and could easily get full. If Pure kept it with the really low prices it would have been carnage to manage it and try to actually let people swim.
The town needs another big pool the same size at least as the leisure centre.

Very friendly place. Swimming only membership £22 per month individual, £40.40 couple, £3.90 a session for non-members.

Stafford getting another decent sized swimming pool is about as likely as us getting a rejuvenated town centre.

I noticed on Facebook last night that Pure gym had pulled out of the purchase. No idea if it's true as heard nothing else from anywhere and I don't tend to believe FB gossip. However I was given a leaflet for the new gym in the guildhall today and their membership starts at £9.99. Cheaper than Pure Gym, never heard of them mind. They are called I-Motion.
