Hey, for years I've heard like a massive microphone go off, but I can never actually tell what it says, I thought it was for McDonald's, but now that's closed and I still hear it.

It's not a massive issue, like it's not a nuisance, just want to know where it originates from . Can never really make out what they're saying either

Is there a Mosque in the vicinity?
Their trainee blackbird muezzin is the only sound I've ever heard from there.

if you hear it at 20.05 tonight its the Prayer Hall. They should still have the call to prayer even if its closed.

Anyone else heard the 'explosion' type noises about 1am in the Holmcroft area (4 or 5, then a space and then another 2), followed by booming bangs, 10 at a time, mid week last week. The next night the booming bangs were back, but not the explosion like noises?

Could they be track detonators on the railway to warn drivers about permanent way workings further up the line? It would be easier to hear them further away because of the lack of background noise compared to normal.

If they’re going off 5 or 10 at a time they’re not likely to be track dets which are usually placed in 3s 10m apart.

Also they shouldn’t be set off unless a train is entering a track possession when it shouldn’t so this will be by exception.

I heard this type of noise about 09.00 this morning. It sounded like it was from the Common but no idea what it was.
