'Quickie' marriages?

We were going to get married before the kid came anyway, but neither like the whole big ceremony standing in front of everyone kinda thing and wanted to do something very quiet. However we may have to visit her parents a bit sooner than expected for health reasons, and I'm thinking as I'll be a filthy immigrant perhaps getting married may make things easier for me to go with her. I expect us to be banned from most places pretty quickly as everyone is very wary of what we're doing, and travelling as a spouse makes it more essential travel for me than just my GF.

So anyway, is there a way to do it quick? Can you just pop in, sign some stuff and get out again ASAP?

If I was going to be this rash, I would ring the registrar and enquire, making sure that the element of foreignness was understood.

I do have a small anvil and a selection of ladders, if you want to try a DIY event.

Been on hold for 25 minutes now, getting bored. Probably gone to lunch!

The website says I can book online, but whoever wrote that system needs firing immediately. I got a login page, I register and it stays on login. I log in, it goes back to login. I browse, I press book a wedding, it goes back to login. Probably paid thousands for that.

EDIT: It took 25 minutes til I was told I was 5th in the queue! Nothing before that, which is odd, but just as I hit submit I got a message.

And for added thrills, not knowing from one second to the next what quarantine regulations will be in place when you get home and possibly having to fork out over 3 grand on a compulsory stay in one of HMGs hotels...

Love's great adventure

And it's been 4 years today since we got married!

14 years together total!

We're celebrating by having enormous amounts of cheese and wine!

This is what I eventually got off you on Facebook ---
