Recommendations for car diagnostics please.

Can anyone recommend a good & cheap garage that can run a diagnostic check on a cdti Vectra.

The engine management light is on, the previous owner took it to a garage for diagnostics, but then fixed the EGR valve himself (the problem), but because he fixed it himself the light has remained on (he says this has to be done at a garage).

I know you're all going to suggest AA Silencers, but just wondered if this is a specialist problem where we have to take it somewhere else? Needs to be super cheap too

Why not just give Mark at AA a bell and ask him? Whatever you do please don't go near A1 up the Wolverhampton road. They charged my eldest for work not done, could've been dangerous cos it was for the brakes on his car.

If AA can't do it then FMS almost certainly will be able to.

most garages should be able to reset it but be aware if theres any other issue it may reshow after a few miles. however it will show if theres any more issues and what they are during the diagnostic anyway.
