Recycling changes...

Ok so under the new recycling guidelines, what are these classified as... recyclable or hard plastics? Blue bin or green bin?

Who knows the answer to the $64,000,000 question?

For information, the two on the left have no recycling symbol on but the other three do. I would have put them all in the blue bin before.

I'd put them all in the blue bin as they are not black or "hard" plastic

We had 2 lorries following each other down our road today for the blue bins and bags. Blue bin men were taking the bags to the edge of the pavement after bringing the blue bin back , ready for the bag men to pick up and empty. Took so long for them to get down the short road, but probably hampered by them having to write 'Ooops'notices out for most of the bins . (Star pupil here got an Ooops free bin :D )

I got an Oops notice fir having bagged electricals for recycling in the bin - I suppose previously they would have gone in the caddy but they now need to go on top of the bin I guess...

"I think" they have always been supposed to be in a bag by the side of the bin...

That said I did that once and it was just left!!!

My understanding was that they were supposed to be on top of the bin.

That's what I've done on the few times that I've done it and they've always gone.

If that's right, then maybe it was partly to dissuade people from leaving out items that were a bit too big for that part of the system?

Right - beside the bin it is - https://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/waste...pment-collection-and-used-household-batteries .

When I've done it, it's just been little bags of batteries and they could have gone unnoticed at the side, I think, plus there was little likelihood of them being blown off the lid.

I wonder if stuff sometimes gets left because the available space is full, before the main capacity has filled up?

There will come a time when people may not have carrier bags easily to hand, once the stashes under the sinks all around town have been depleted...

My grandchildren will have grandchildren before the big bag of bags is gone from our house.

We had the crew who fold the bags and put them back under the lids today for a change. I didn't put my bag out today, but just been out to get the blue bin back in and gained someone elses bag. Put it back under someone elses lid now in the hope it's theirs ......

Ours today... good thing it’s not raining or it’d all be mush

Wouldn’t be nearly as problematic if they hadn’t also closed the Asda bins
