Hi, long time reader first time poster.

I have heard that Rileys (Old Labour Club) is reopening under the name Rileighs. Apparently the building has been purchased outright and the new owner plans to open on the 29th of March.

This is great news for Stafford and hopefully the pool,snooker,darts players of Stafford will show its support.

Just wondered if anyone else on here has any thoughts/information about it.

I wondered whether the bowling place had done for Rileys the last time i was there - the bowling place that is, i never went to Rileys (not quite good enough with a cue). Not that i ever played at the bowling place but if memory serves it seemed quite good value.

As with the Pie&Ale House thing, one does wonder if it is wise to retry an already failed venture, but there are some very good pool players knocking about. Let's hope they are open of pocket.

I don't think Rileys was a failed venture as such. I think it was the victim of a choice between Cannock and Wolverhampton closing and the condition of the building (Roof like a siv).

I use to play pool for one of the teams down there and was very surprised when it shut. Hopefully all the teams that had to find other venues will return.

Hello all,
Went to Rileighs over the weekend and they have a new food menu which looks good and fairly priced.
The atmosphere was really relaxed and enjoyable. I got took along by some friends who said it was a good night(I was reluctant at first as I didn't want to be a member and its not somewhere I'd normally go, having said that I did have a great time)
I noticed they had some posters up for a band on sat 25th may think its was kalyder, does anyone know if they are any good and worth going down for, I have some friends coming to stay next week and thought this could be a good way to spend a night out.
Hopefully I can post a bit more now I've signed up after lurking for a few weeks. Xxx

Loud and clear, just joshing with you.
Looks like a lot on next weekend with a 10 piece Soul band at the Swan on Friday and then Rob Bristow doing a 80's Electronic/New Wave night on Saturday night. Let's hope for decent weather as both events are in the courtyard

Appears to be changing its name to "Kennys"... looks like Rileys didn't like the use of a similar name for a similar venue.

I will be walking past later I'll try have a nosey (lol)
Spoke to a couple of friends and after hearing from here the band is good I'm going to go down on Saturday night, hopefully will make a nice change to the normal drinking for the sake of it and ending up in the usual places. Is anyone else going to be going down? X

Hello to those of you kind enough to spark up a conversation about us already! We are indeed now Kennys, we will have more bands and singers playing in the future so we will definitely let you all know when we have confirmed dates and acts.
With regular teams playing and different deals for members there is always something going on down here, so come on over and have a look!

Might i suggest starting a new thread under the heading 'Kennys Sports Bar' - otherwise people will post in Rileys Pool Hall in a misnomery way.

Similar thing happened some time ago when the chap that runs/ran the Shire Horse kept posting up about new menus and offers and suchlike in a thread with a title something along the lines of 'The Shire Horse is Rubbish'.

Similar, but obviously not exactly the same. :)
