Riverside development April start

Really?

My only issue with the new shopping parade is a simple one - I can no longer just "pop into Marks" when I'm in town. It has to be an actual journey. This means that I will not go in as much as I used to. I am sure they will be just fine but I wonder if they will lose any other small incidental sales.

It has to be considered normal if it's ever happened before, M'lud.
Not really...

adjective
1.
conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural.

A rainstorm of that density and timescale could not be described as "normal"....

I don't like the Riverside development and nor do most people I meet on the bus. Marks was better where it was. I think I shall go to Birmingham in future.

I do get confused easily but how can a fantastic new M&S at the Southern end of our town get negative comments on its location, to the extent that Birmingham is a more convenient location. I'd personally just prefer to support my hometown! The car parking under the store is surely more convenient plus in most weather conditions it's dry!!

Ah yes, travel an extra 30 miles to go to Marks & Spencer instead of an extra few hundred yards. Most sensible. #sarcasmintended

Enjoying a drop of red.
I was going to Home & Bargain today, but decided to charter a plane instead and buy a toilet brush in San Francisco.
That seems remarkably sensible. Bog brushes are at least £1 at Home & Bargain, so you'll have made a useful saving, merely by flying 10400 miles, return.

The Guardian used to have a regular feature How Much Can I Pay For....

..where they would try to find the most expensive example of some suggested product that was available to buy in the UK (usually in London).

The only one that I can remember is the most expensive toilet brush, available take way with you.

It was £1,600.

Also, do bear in mind that this was thirty years ago, when the pounds were rather bigger than they are now.

How To Spend It, is a magazine I get with my FT

It does similar but without any sense of irony or ridicule

I am relieved to discover that one of my favourite features of Stafford has been reinstated after the modifications that have occurred in the area.

Went into the new development the other day and massively disappointed.

I feel money would have been better spent upgrading the Guildhall.

Having walked around Burton the other week the plethora of centres that were full (and not of card / mobile / charity shops) was much more appealing than our handful of clothing stores bunched together, might improve once cinema and food outlets are open.
