Julian and Sandy, boy! Go and stand in the corner.

It was Hugh Paddick, who was, in fact, distantly related to Brian Paddick, the ex-copper that stood for Mayor of London last time. I was disappointed at the lack of nostalgic references that didn't flood the media.

"You have a rummage round the shop, Mr 'Orne! Jule'll follow you round and make suggestions! Won't you Jule?"
"Gladly!"

Jules'll give you a tune, Mr Horne, he's a dab hand at the cottage upright.

( Don't start me, I picked up all four series in the CD box sets for £8 at the boot sale a few years ago - the happiest day of my life! )

surely you lot should have started a new thread on whatever archaic "comedy" you are banging on about a long time ago??

Perhaps it's like evolution and the differentiation into a new species is a gradual process - however, we may have reached that point.

I wonder if we should pull out at this stage, before we get a nasty complaint. I do feel a strong urge coming on - to start a thread for the cognicenti.

Did you manage to drag yourself up on deck? Or did you just dress casual?

OK, that's it, new thread when I come back from town!

'archaic ' comedy, well if it's funny then it's funny, i canna help that.. For the life of me a big dick painted on a roof is drab, now if it had been painted a little old lady or a panda then it'd be hilarious...

I think we should gaffertape dirtybobby to a chair and play Gramaisc's CDs at him until he admits that it's the greatest post-war comedy in existence.

I have selection of self-adhesive tapes and all thirty five hours of it to inflict on him.

Show me something else that could be repeated continuously for 45 years and not only still be funny, but get funnier.

I visited Church Stretton on 27-02-2007 as a pilgrimage to mark the 100th anniversary of KH's birth. We arrived armed only with a picture of the rear view of the White House, his childhood home. However, we did eventually find the site, which is now covered in 'executive' housing. The woman in the Tourist Office couldn't get rid of us quickly enough and clearly had no idea that KH was a son of the town, despite having endless items on Sylvester Horne, his father. Actually, it was all suitably surreal in a way. We did appear to be the only two there on that momentous day.

Isn't it interesting that basil got the blame, even though I had already admitted defeat?

As a sane person, I don't like to go out on Fridays or Saturdays, when the oiks are about. I think I'll go to bed early and listen to some excellent science fiction - A Voyage to Uranus.

Note:- Yan-Nang was the other half of the Church Stretton pilgrimage team. So we now seem to have four people who understand polari.

Basil, it occurs to me that your recently declared aversion to Bond films may be traceable back to having undergone multitudinous episodes of 'Kenneth Horne - Masterspy' during an impressionable period, including such memorable lines as:-

'You must be Pussy Galore.' 'Well, I've never had any complaints.'

'Sir, the PM's on the scrambler' 'Oh, is he? Well, get him to call me when he comes out.'

i think it was sean in his bond comeback when asked how he was feeling by a sultry comely female he replys 'a little stiff'.....priceless....

'Why have you gaffer-taped me to this chair?'

'Call it an old man's whim, my dear.'

'Alright, why have you gaffer-taped me to this old man's whim?'
