Rugeley.

Rugeley doesn't seem to have a generic thread so far.

I had cause to use Colliery Road tonight and discovered, at the very last moment, that these bollards aren't there now.

It was only my new Asda glasses that allowed me to spot the kerb in the middle of the road, in the gloom, amongst the drifts of fallen leaves.

I still have round wheels.

I know, it was a mistake, I got a bit lost.

I was surprised how gridlocked the place was, God help them if the by-pass gets closed one day.

We are all just relieved that you escaped with your undercarriage intact, not many who pass through rugeley can make that claim.

I used go cleaning at the clinics in Rugeley. I had go to the Well Being centre on the Springfields estate. Drove on, no problem. Then had a football hit the side of the car, I carried on thru on my short journey praying the car didn't break down. I had visions of the kids puttin bricks under it after they'd nicked the wheels, then having the bricks nicked too.

My favourite Rugeley fact is that, in the wake of William Palmer and the whole 'Rugeley Poisoner' notoriety, the folk of Rugeley petitioned the then Prime Minister to have the name of the town changed to disassociate themselves from such ignominy.

The PM agreed to such a name change, but only if they named the town after him. Thus it was to be renamed as Palmerston.

The petition was dropped.

I actually am entirely unsure of the truth of this tale, but am in two minds as to whether it should get in the way of a good story.
