Wish I'd booked on line so that I could have had peace of mind of a second dose appointment date. I'd had the call from the doctors , and jab at the showground , a couple of days before the NHS letter arrived to book on line. So got to wait for the doctors to ring me for the 2nd one now just before it.
(Bit worried with them not ringing back at all after the first attempt this time , when my phone was playing up and not ringing so I'd missed the 'private number' call. Luckily I dared to ring them the next day , after dithering wondering whether I'd be classed as a nuisance, to find it had been them trying to ring and my appointment was actually for less than 2 hours time . "So get yourself and your arm up there "! )

Hubby had his a few days later after a text off the GP saying to ring them about the jab. He got his because he's 63 with heart condition, but hasn't had a letter through from the NHS at all yet. So if he'd have waited for that he still wouldn't have had it done yet.

Made a note of when 11 -12 weeks is , so will contact surgery if not heard by then.

Out of curiosity, do any of these 35 to 40 age group have weight issues?
As mentioned elsewhere, they are currently vaccinating people with a BMI over 40.

I haven't got any weight issues. I genuinely have no idea why I was contacted by my GP to have the jab.

@gon2seed I 100% agree with you - teachers should be prioritised and ALL teachers should be vaccinated before 8th March.

My mother, who lives in Penkridge, is 57 and was vaccinated last Friday so hopefully your wife won't have to wait too much longer. Have you contacted the 119 number?

It does appear that whilst there is a priority list some GP surgeries are working through their lists quicker than others and are more proactive in ensuring as many people get the jab as quickly as possible.

I don’t know why people even bother with gp bookings.
We were “offered” appointments at Cannock by the gp. No alternative from them & no second jab date. I went online, booked both of us in at Kingston Centre & booked second jabs, again at the Kingston Centre at the same time. We had the jabs a week before the gp appointment, before our age group were being vaccinated & 6 days before we received the letter. When I called the gp to cancel their appointments (the day after they called me) they weren’t very happy. Obviously their funding was far more important than our inconvenience &dis-satisfaction.

Going further down the list is a mixture of things:

  • GPs burning through their lists faster, they can’t just take on a load from another GP so they start doing the younger and less vulnerable
  • Opportunity, because as with @proactive’s missus it’s just a case of being in the right place at the right time to get a spare jab
  • Employees of companies that supply critical infrastructure such as the NHS can apply for it through their employer
  • Underlying health conditions for seemingly young and healthy people that they don’t want to talk about publicly, such as HIV, etc. Mind your own.
  • Group 6 also includes neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc) folk, not just physical ailments
