[Sat 28 Apr 2012] Jazz at the Junction.

Here's one of Chris Gumbley's Jazz Events. It's in the tea-room at the old station in Hulme End, in what was the engine shed - at the northern end of the Manifold track, and so it could form part of a nice day out in the country. It is free admission and is scheduled to re-occur in some form on the last Saturday of each month, up to August. This April event will consist of Chris himself and Sara Colman.

It will actually start around 12:30, but I can't get beyond putting full hours in for the timings..

Oh, and I would expect it to be more modern then trad...

And, before you get upset about the use of the word 'junction' when Hulme End was a terminus, then be aware that this is nothing to do with me - obviously.

Completely co-incidentally, the Gumbler staggered into the Greyhound last night and was severely admonished for his junction/terminus faux-pas.

Who cares about facts when there's alliteration to be had?
If he had favoured trad instead of all that clever stuff, he could have had Trad at the Terminus.

The venue itself is actually called the Tea Junction, when it could have been the Tea Terminus - it's just a matter of where you shove your alliteration, and whether you go for the joke or technical accuracy..

I love it round there. When I had a Morris Minor which couldn't carry a bike, I used to drive out to Brown End Farm to hire a bike and then cycle along the Maniford Valley to a sort of Mill place where you can have cake. Lots of lovely sunny afternoons...might have to use this as an excuse to get out there again.
