Save money on costly 0870 numbers

I seem to be making a large amount of calls to 0870 numbers lately, more often than not whilst trying to contact utility companies who have screwed something up. This inevitably costs me more money, which fills me with rage.

If you go to saynoto0870.com you can type in the company name or their 0870 number and the search will (usually) offer you a geographical alternative, i.e. a landline number to get you to the same place! Has worked for all the numbers and companies i've tried so far, so next time you're trying to find out why British Gas have overcharged you by a zillion quid and you have to rant at them for half an hour having been on hold for an hour, try this first!

Yes this is more than handy and even more handy if you use it in conjunction with skype which we have been doin for ages . Result is you get to call on 087 or 084 type number which is now a landline ( already explained much better earlier) and then the beauty of it is if you use skype to call it . The cost is peanuts !

Now then for an even MORE cunning thing to do

Lets say you have to make this call and it's about something "heavy" ( sorry old hippies don't die etc.. but insert your own word) now then assuming you want to keep a copy of this conversation to Mac bastard the bank manager or some such.If you use something called "PAMELA" you can actually record the whole conversation in MP3 format and use as "evidence" if you need to later . It also stops you having to jot down notes about what was said or not said as one does when dealing with these "types" AND it means when they misquote you as they often do you can stick it right to them ..which I lurve to do !

Now then there is a thing on the trial version where it actually lets the other person know the call is being recorded .. but if you want to be super sneaky ( all in the interests of scientific experimentation of course!) there is a way of stopping this from happening ..a general gawp thru google will reveal

anyway it works for us and it might just work for you too . Pamela is a downloadable prog with skype as I recall or you can probs just grab it off t'net .
