My favourite thing about people is when they get really pissed off about the things that they absolutely did themselves, when they were kids, but have kind of convinced themselves it was 'just a bit of fun' when they did it, but is absolutely some sort of 'hate crime' now that they are on the other side of it.

They are fun people, aren't they?

The best part of it is that it is their own kids doing it, even though it couldn't possibly be them.

Geek Retreat is currently closed due to a break in overnight..

...update they are now back open again
Who breaks into a place selling Pokémon Cards and Warhammer Paint, really? They’re pretty much a cashless store too, given the customer base.

Maybe they got a bit confused when they heard that Warhammer is “Plastic Crack”?

Reminds me of when I worked at Boots many years ago as a Porter. I was on my way to carry a box of glasses over to the Opticians as they would come on our delivery when a bloke with a backpack went charging past me out of the main doors. The manager shouted after me to chase him so I took off through the market square and followed the thief up to the Gatehouse when I started to ask myself what exactly I'd do if I caught him given I had a box full of expensive glasses in my hands. I let him go, obviously.

At sainsburys we have to keep our pokemon card packs in alarmed security boxes, before purchase.

If only I'd known what they were worth when I threw away my (now grown up) kids cards years ago.....

Big difference between pinching off a shelf and breaking into a place though, it’s quite a dramatic escalation

If it helps they probably weren’t worth much, I have a Shiny Charizard but it’s maybe worth £50… it’s the First Edition you can trade in for a small car

Yeah, big difference, but having to keep them in a box shows how many are being stolen..... Very very popular with the 30ish crowd now....

Things get stolen to be sold. Smaller more valuable items are the target, hence why Gillete razor blades are tagged and not TV sets.

Sensodyne toothpaste, the shelves are stripped weekly by several individuals, who would have thought it.....

I remember when I used to work at the Co-op on Silkmore Lane, someone broke in once to steal fags and when they realised they were locked away in the warehouse they left without taking anything. I'd have grabbed a pocket full of Mars bars or something at least!

On the other hand, I came into work one day to find that the actual cash machine had been stolen right out of the wall so it all balances out.

My daughter has her "valuable" Pokémon cards set aside in a different folder and I had no idea they were worth so much !!
