Yep, really enjoyed it. I've been a fan of Steven Moffat for a while now so I'd been looking forward to it & it didn't disappoint :)

watched and loved it.....although i couldnt help thinking there was a heavy influence of 'the doctor' in cumberbatchs performance.

liked it nonetheless, especially the text effects.

I thought Cumberbatch was brilliant and an obvious successor to young Mr Smith.

Although having read this maybe not.

I thought it was great TV ... a different take on an old story!
Isn't Steven Moffat the guy doing Dr Who now?

Yes, he also wrote for Chris Eccleston & David Tennant's Doctor with the Empty Child/The Doctor Dances two parter ("are you my Mummy?"), The Girl in the Fireplace (clockwork robots), Blink (Weeping Angels) & The Silence in the Library/The Forest of the Dead two parter (Vashta Nerada)

Outside from Doctor Who he also wrote Press Gang, Coupling & the recent Jekyll & Hyde remake with James Nesbitt

I loved but it was disappointed to hear that there are only 3 episodes in this series. I hope that isn't true. While I realise American TV is hardly a a benchmark of quality TV I do wonder how they can manage to 26 episodes a season and we can only manage typically 6-8.

Having just watched my first but the third episode i would be truly astonished if there were no more.

For those on the other side of the Times paywall check out Caitlin Moran's review of the first episode (if it's there - i'm the wrong side but read it in print).

Jolly good show.

Just watched part 3 and at the very start, was it just me or did Sherlock sound like Alan Rickman?

Was very sceptical about this series, but have been very impressed.

Ive heard that Benedict Cumberbatch turned down the Dr Who role, shame, cause i think he would be a damn site better than Matt Smith (cant stand him im afraid)

Strange but I thought exactly the same thing.

Confirmed, a second series of Sherlock...
Not surprised, this one went down quite well, but why oh why are they only doing three episodes at a time. I realise most will argue quality over qauntity but I will never understand why we produce such good tv in such limited runs when the americans can make just as good tv in much longer seasons, opefully the Americans will do their version and produce more of it.

good point.. although one of the best programmes to come out of america of recent years, imo, is dexter, which tends to buck the "24 episodes per seasons" trend and us typically only 12 or so.. still, it's a damn sight more than the 3/6 that we can just about manage..

cannot disagree with this enough..

I dunno, over the years they have produced versions of most of our popular shows, just as we have theirs and generally you get two very good shows telling the same story, except you get more of it.
