Shugborough - :(

I'd advise avoiding Shugborough at the end of the month as they are holding a "game and country fair" which should more accurately be called an "animal murderers convention"

Well you had me at animal murdering, but there seems to be even more enjoyment going on.

Set in the beautiful parkland of Shugborough Hall this Family Country and Game Shownow in its 4th year, with all day entertainment including birds of prey, working dogs, heavy horses, medieval village plus The Knights of the Damned Jousting Team, children's entertainment as well as arts, crafts, gifts and food marquees.

They seem to put a lot of emphasis on children looking at animals. No doubt parents will be explaining the lamb they are being encouraged to feed will be killed for somebody's dinner in the not too distant future. Goat milking also down as an "attraction" so obviously lots of explanation that baby goats will have been stolen from their mother. The whole event is an exercise in double standards: look at the cute animals children, now lets murder them.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Sounds like a good day out for all the family :)

Bet you'd like to ban the car show at the Castle in August. Can't have people letting their children look at cars, those filthy planet killing, evil things. Shoot the bloody drivers... Oh, hang on...

If you're going to have standards, then always best to double them...

It is a sad world we live in that an event essentially about killing is considered "enjoyment".
Whilst these country fairs don't appeal to me, they are well supported, and enjoyed, by thousands of people and to the best of my knowledge nothing gets killed at these events. Taking your logic of not supporting events that support killing that would mean no one should attend any events put on by the Army at the MOD site. Where do you stop.
Talking of enjoyment, I've taken great pleasure going to the horse races ( esp. when I win). I take it that I am wrong and horse racing would be on your 'things to ban' list.

No, I wouldn't. Classic cars aren't really an environmental problem, they account for a very small percentage of mileage driven.

I didn't say any killing happened at the events, but the fact remains a game fair and many "country pursuits" are about killing wildlife.

It is an interesting point. There is a lot of glorification of the army, I'm sure they don't mention the physical and psychological state of many ex-soldiers whose lives are ruined.

Correct.

Our of interest, which is the smaller. Percentage of game animals killed versus 'farm' animals or classic cars versus environmentally friendly ones?

The last time we went to Shugborough we got the car parking fee refunded when buying the entrance tickets. That was only because we checked how much parking was with a carpark attendant and he told us we could claim it back off the price of the ticket when we went in to pay. We wouldn't have got it back otherwise ,as the woman taking our money never offered that information.
That was quite a while back though so don't know if you can still get refunds.
