Trains to London

I usually have a couple of weeks notice - however, I need to be there Wednesday and want to avoid the supremacist march . There was a thread on getting best rail prices but it seems to be avading me.
Any wise ideas ?

Was on the train last night and felt like more of a sardine than a person. Annoying thing was we thought we'd be ok as we had first class tickets, but apparantly not on that train. Everyone just crammed it and sat wherever there was a seat. From where we were standing we could see everyone sitting happily in nice cushy seats in first class. Full of drunks too :/ I should say the tickets were valid for that train but no one cared lol

Husband is at work in Crewe and will catch the train back to Stafford around 6pm, only a customer has informed him the train line is closed between Crewe and Stafford due to a suicide on the line

I've looked but can't find anything....
