Had a thought. Stafford Forum and its technical makeup.
For a a site with a fair few members, the layout and useability of the site is very basic, which ironically makes it complicated and slow..pacman type format.
Any plans to improve? I enjoy the quantity but not the quality of the site. I understand it may be a voluntary administration but surely time has to now be given to making the site faster and easier and more fluid to use. In an age of fast apps and websites, a good overhaul is surely needed. Feels clumbersome and old. A lot of other forums i visit are much more intuitive and easier to use, navigate and write within.
Just saying

I'm not linked to this forum in any way, but it took a revamp only around 12 months ago and if you think this is old-skool then you should have seen the older format! Personally I probably see more forums than most while I'm researching various faults etc, and to be honest I quite like this compared to alot of others I deal with. I think really it's personally preference more than anything else.

What matters to me is A. that it works, and B. the content. Ticks both of my boxes. ;)

Out of curiosity why do you find the userbility complicated and slow?

For me I just click on "New Posts" at the top and then read what has been posted since the last time I was on. I find this very quick and easy to navigate.

If I did have a gripe, it would be about the search function. That is all.

I quite like the place, prefer it to facebook as it doesn't keep trying to tell me what to look at!

I'm not sure what more you want from here? It's quite fast, loads in milliseconds. Everything is laid out in well, in forum style under categories. It's extremely easy to use and now I've changed to Mocha, easy on the eyes.

Remember not every one on this site is computer savvy

Agreed I think it's fine as it is. Easy to use and certainly don't think it's slow to load.

Like Carole, I find the new posts function perfect. It's a discusison forum, so I'm not sure what else is needed? I run a phpbb board elsewhere, and find this much better than that.

I think there should be a "Change" working party to complete a fact-finding mission before this idea is even put to "Change" sub-committee prior to a full committee meeting circa 2019........

So if admin did change something, there would be uproar, in accordance with your passionate views!
You'd of thought i suggested a complete dismantle and rebuild!!!
What i find most annoying is that it does not send notifications if your name or post is mentioned. I wouldn't know what was mentioned if i didn't periodically check.

That's odd @Cedar Forestry & Logging Ltd

In the top right hand corner where it says "Alerts" it should show the number of alerts...as in how many people have either replied to a post or tagged you into a post.
You should in fact get an alert for THIS message because I have tagged you.

If not then contact admin.

If people bother, they can easily alert you, @Cedar Forestry & Logging Ltd .

I believe that you can Watch any individual threads by clicking Watch Thread at the top right-hand corner..

If those alerts don't work, you might look at what you've got ticked in Preferences in your Profile.

Following on from my last post, to get the alerts you have to activate your profile page.

Go to top right hand corner and click on your own avatar picture, then go to "alert preferences."
You can then opt to be alerted if anyone replies to something that you have written.

250,000th poster!
Further to what @Carole & @Gramaisc correctly say, I think (but could be wrong) that you can also set the settings to give you email & maybe even mobile alerts if anyone mentions you, or posts in a thread that you are watching....

The xenforo platform that this forum is built on is significantly better than others I have seen. At least this one gives you nice and clear notifications on the site. The best thing is that it takes you right to the first new post in any given thread. Other forums you have to read through the whole lot again!
I quite like the way this forum is laid out :)
