I was pleasantly surprised. My Worcester correspondent tells me you haven't got any @staffordjas

OMG Looks picturesque but glad we are down here. Yes it's a lovely sunny day with iced up car and frost on ground here , but no snow in sight thankfully :)

(Fingers crossed we don't get it tomorrow as I'm giving son lifts back and forwards to the garage....it's a long 2 mile downhill into town so I won't be doing that journey in the snow! )

Thursday could be a fun day.

Bloody ridiculous! No wonder all the staff in the local Sainsburys are working looking like death and coughing & sneezing over everyone. I'm sure that's how I caught one bout of covid after a shop there.

I had a disciplinary from County Caterers a few years ago for being off after my hysterectomy. Thought they had come to see how I was doing out of concern for me when HR turned up at the house when I came out of hospital. But no , they told me how much I had inconvienced everyone else having to cover my job and filling in their forms asked "Is it likely to happen again ?" Errrm no , you only have 1 hysterectomy! I stuck it out for my maximum sickness time allowance then handed in my notice and never went back.

That's terrible!

My work recently asked a colleague if she 'really needed the hip replacement' that she'd had done at the NHS 's leisure.....as she's in her 50s...... 🙄🙄🙄🙄

One of my lot was at his previous employment when he got the call from his wife that her waters had broken. He went to see his boss to tell him he was off, as previously agreed. Boss turns round and says it's not a particularly convenient time now and that he needs to stay.

Boss got told where to stick his effing job...

This is an extremely hard-working lad who almost daily stops on after hours to make sure a job is not left unfinished. We're very luck to have him. Why treat your employees in this way? It makes no sense in any level...

I told my boss in GEC (after having hardly any time off over my 24 years there) that I needed to go for a hospital scan when I was pregnant. I'd been the previous week as I was nearing 40 and they wanted to keep an eye on me with already losing his twin earlier in the pregnancy. Had to get a 'passout' form from him to get past the gatehouse "No, you can go after work this time" Told him hospitals didn't do the scans after work. Ended up getting personel involved , who finally gave me a passout. Reached hospital late for my appointment by that time and flustered with dangerously sky high blood pressure. As soon as the doctor found out trying to escape from work had caused the raised BP he signed me off sick for the rest of my pregnancy. So instead of losing me for half an hour or so , they lost me for months instead.😂

Whilst driving to the garage in nice sunny conditions earlier ,with icy roads but not a bit of snow in sight , kept getting traffic alerts of all the problems the snowy conditions was causing everywhere else , including Manchester airport closing their runways due to the overnight dollop of snow dropped on them. (Just most of the roads here closed for burst water mains this morning , as well as the power cable work from yesterday causing traffic mayhem)

Hope you are all enjoying making those snowmen ☃️☃️:snowman::snowman:

We had a chap in the factory who was remarkably competent and efficient at his job, but he had huge social, psychological and substance abuse issues - to the point where a lot of people were genuinely frightened and avoided dealing with him, a situation which he didn't mind, as it led to him largely dealing with people who were 'OK'.

One day, he informed his manager that he had a hospital appointment in a few days time and would be in a bit late in on that day - "Tell them to put it back a week, we have a lot on and we need you here!" - "It doesn't really work like that. If I don't attend, the police will come here and take me there, and you'll find that it will all take a lot longer."

I still have a blank pad of passouts, if you ever need another.

I've just been to a burial in a hilltop cemetery - still sub-zero, but the sunshine and the flat calm made it almost warm at times. I parked in a shaded, and still snow-covered, corner of the car park. With the engine off, there was a slight sound, like a small pressure leak. I had a suspicion about what it was, so I sat in the car and waited. About a minute later, it slid about ten yards down the slight slope of the car park, so I moved it to a clear spot and left it in gear, as well, to give all four wheels a chance.

As calm as the atmosphere was at our level, the turbines about five miles away could be seen churning over steadily.
