No logical argument to that point. But as we know in certain circumstances logic counts for nowt. Personally I keep to urban speed limits and at times travel well below them as circumstances dictate but give me an open, well surfaced road and you may well find me doing the limit +10% + 2mph. We all need a rush now and again and I don't do chemicals.tek-monkey said:In a way they are, but in a way thats their choice surely? Not speeding = no speeding fines / points.
I might quote you again on this one ...gk141054 said:Was pleasantly surprised by it all really... don't think i'll be hit too hard.
It maybe not too bad an issue as long you and your family and close friends remain fit, well and employed..tek-monkey said:I don't really, the vat rise is almost cancelled out by the tax band rise so thats not too bad an issue. As long as food stays zero rated its not an issue. Nice to see no rise in beer/fags/petrol, although the vat rise accounts for those anyway I guess.
I'll be a bit worse off, but not really much. I suppose the biggest hit for me is no pay rise for 2 years, but it could have been a lot worse.
Or Ron Zoni as we know him in the stablesbasil said:always and forever you say?, methinks mr luther vandross my not want to be implicated in this......

If you or any of them become in need of the help of the state then you could end up in a right state...
yes, because none of this was true under a labour governmentJohn Marwood said:The rich

It may come as a surprise to you johnny boy that money makes money, ergo the rich will get richer regardless of whatever crazy communist based scheme you wish to dream up. The rich get richer, except those who buy a shit load of drugs and burn out.John Marwood said:The rich

I care not what you think, however, for the record the new I refered to was new labour ( old tories as in previous posts )db said:John Marwood said:It maybe not too bad an issue as long you and your family and close friends remain fit, well and employed..

you're always banging on about how bad a tory government is, but that's because you're a bit older than a lot of us here so you lived through and remember how bad the last tory government was - i'm not disputing that..
however, you have to realise that for our generation, in our minds, the ones we remember who loved it up are labour.. labour are our generation's tories..
not that i've ever voted tory.. i just find your constant, incessant tory-bashing almost as annoying as sofa's constant green party hyperbole on facebook lol..
The poor will get poorer - of that I am as sure as anything in this worldshoes said:It may come as a surprise to you johnny boy that money makes money, ergo the rich will get richer regardless of whatever crazy communist based scheme you wish to dream up. The middling people work longer, yes, and that is as a result of our ageing population and rapidly expanding poor population using up resources very quickly. Someone has to pay for it and that's us. It's probably worth noting that the rich already pay a phenomenal amount of tax into this pot also.
The poor don't get poorer, you go from a NMW job onto the dole, or pop out a kid and you're loads better off. The poor getting poorer simply isn't true. It might have been true once (although I cannot imagine it was in the last 200 years!) but certainly not now.
Not strictly true it will only affect those non-workers not receiving any benefits including state pension as the VAT paid into the kitty came out of it originally. It's more likely to gain interest in the public kitty then in the pocket of someone who is relying on benefit handouts.tek-monkey said:HB limit will only cause problems in Nodnol, nowhere else. Not sure what other limits have been imposed, other than vat which rightly affects all spending rather than just workers.
