Ti's spider season again, officially.

This morning I got up to one dangling from the kitchen ceiling, is was devoured by Pheobe-cat, thankfully.

Spotted the second one as I went to drink my coffee in the living room, on the ceiling above the TV..... I balanced on the sofa... Looking like a old age surfer with a bad back & wobbly knees, as I sprayed it with spider killer spray.... It dropped down the back of the TV and dissapeared... Not what you need at 5.30am

Last night around 4am the husband decided to read his book as he couldn't sleep - no problem, he has a little clip on night light that doesn't bother me - all is good.

But then he starts wiggling around waffling the quilt and muttering under his breath - I not so politely enquire wtf is going on. Turns out a spider ran across the pages of his book!! No spider to be found and I roll back over.

2mins later more fiddling and fuffling - apparently the spider did it again! At this point I'm seriously unimpressed.

Then for the THIRD time the spider made an appearance! I kick him out of bed - main light on and search this whole dam book - no spider to be found and he's swearing he's not crazy!

Then for the FOURTH time (at this point I'm contemplating divorce / murder) this mystery spider makes an appearance. He manages to squish it so obviously I have to be woken up again to prove it existed...

Moral of the story spiders are getting sneaky and now live in books!

When I first moved to Stafford many years ago I used to buy lots of used books at the local car boot sale, I was reading one when I turned the page and a perfectly dried & pressed spider fell out from between the pages.

Now I HATE spiders dead or alive, so I was absolutely horrified, but I got rid of it and carried on reading...... A few pages later another one fell out, then another, then another... 10 in total in one book..... Horrific!

To make up for this, in another book I found several (more than several) £5.00 notes between pages...

Surely the moral of the story should be don't let hubby read nursery rhymes until he's a bit older and it is about to rain for several days to wash poor Incy out properly isn't it?

So let me get this straight, you clipped a whole bunch of spiders .... and then you stole their loot ! :o

I figure Don Eightlegeoni and the Spafia are going to be looking for you ... and spiders are good at finding things in the most remote places. Best start running now.

The bloke in the PDSA shop yesterday looked at me strangely as I flicked through the pages of the books I was re-donating back to them. My comment "Just checking there's no money in there" got him looking even more strangely at me

Just found a MASSIVE dead spider in the bottom of the vase on the landing windowsill. Looked like he'd tried biting his legs off in his failed attempt to climb out.

R.I.P our oldest tarantula Beauty. We rescued her 9 years ago and she was an adult then so I don't know how old she actually was. Found her curled up yesterday, did a bit of emergency humidity and moisture and she perked up a bit. Sadly she died in the night. Down to just the one now.

Sorry to hear that sad news @Gadget . You did well looking after her for 9 years.
