Really? Do you not use one of the parking apps?
I use parking apps and find them very useful.

However, Stafford Borough Council seem to think it is OK to charge extra for not using cash, a situation I have yet to come across anywhere else in the country. Until, Stafford Borough Council decide to enter the 21st century, then I'll choose to go elsewhere.

When you say charging extra for not using cash, is this for parking??

Not allowing cash payments is exclusive and short sighted ( North Walls )

Yes, if you elect to pay other than by cash at most Stafford Borough Council car parks, they hit you with a transaction fee on top of the car park charge.
I think that's just the extra charge that is paid for using the app and that's standard across the country (and not a massive amount). I don't mind to be honest as you have the ability to extend the parking time via the app rather than go back to the machine and throw more shrapnel into it.

Where they have a card machine at a council car park, such as where @Lucy mentioned at Tenterbanks, I don't believe there is a transaction fee.

All this is a sideshow really as it's been pointed out multiple times that there's plenty of places in Stafford to park for free. Mainly when we need to pay is because the wife can't walk that far and we need to get close to where we are going...

In the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, one hour's parking costs £1.50 cash. If you pay by their recommended Ringo app, it cost £1.91

From what I can make out on the Pay by Phone app the extra charge is 15 pence regardless of how long you park for.... They're hardly fleecing people...

Except they’re the ones saving money by using it

So why are we getting loaded with the cost?

They still need attendants checking the cars on site, they still need the money removing and banking.

That moment you feel slightly nauseous when you slowly reverse into someone else's car in a car park :(
