Stafford Corps of Drums - members wanted

Biggin

Honourary Staffordian
In a past life I was heavily involved with military style bands and it does wonders for the soul, keeps you out of trouble (depends,) and teaches a certain amount of discipline, something I feel would benefit the adolesents of today.

These bands are big in N. Ireland, Scotland, Liverpool and Portsmouth and usually take on the style of a Corps of Drums, ( 4 - 6 side drums and about 12 or so flute players, 1 Bass drummer and optional Flag (Colour ) Party. They march a chosen route, usually with some historical battle commemoration link, perform civic parades, compete in National Competitions and get together regularly for a practice and a bit of craic.

I think Stafford would benefit from having it's very own Corps of Drums, A bit of Pomp and Circumstance is always good for the soul. I would like to start a band up with lads and lassies aged 17 up to 65 and if anyone would like to join or wants further information, let me know. I have a couple of flutes already and can hapily start a learner class, however if you want to purchase your own flute, you can get a Bb Miller Browne for about £65.

Unfortunately what I know about drumming, i could write on the back of a gnats cock, so there is a skill shortage which could be filled in time.

Maybe I have too much time on my hands.

Haha! Conjures up some funny images!
Rich can indeed whack a drum with a stick to a beat very skillfully. As anyone who was in Joxers on St Patricks day can testify i'm not the most musically gifted person there is but i'd be willing to shake a tamborine or sommit if it meant getting dressed up like a war hero and then getting sozzled :D
