Stafford Half Marathon.

Each time the half marathon goes past our house it reminds me of Norman Wisdom in the walking race to Brighton during the One Good Turn film which is the same age as me.

Agree c0ttont0p, was queueing for medium when queue suddenly vanished and was told small, extra large or extra extra large. I know the medal ribbon shows a chippy as a sponsor but I'm not going to eat that many and it hardly promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Felt sorry for all those still running, possibly their 1st half only to find a T many times to big waiting for the majority (assuming they hadn't ran out of them to by then).
How did you get on? if there is a slowest equivalent of PB I smashed it!

2hrs for me, I was doing great until the top at Beaconside and the shoes I were wearing gave me some hassle.... Still despite no proper training I was happy

Well done to all the runners. I overhead lots of complimentary comments about Stafford from 'outsiders', which was lovely to hear. I hope they spent lots of money in town.

The park looked lovely today. Its a shame that it was left to volunteers to do a litter pick before the race started to make the route fit for purpose & clean. Lots of litter picked up along the Wolverhampton Road and Forebridge Ward.

Also disappointing to hear about running out of t - shirts. Poor by the organisers and yet another example of our incompetent council.

Scrolling list of finishers I think there were only about 1800, didn't there used to be closer to 3000? In which case it's a worrying trend for its future.

Also no same day emails for the 10k that usually arrive.

Finished in 1.51.33, was very pleased to finish in a reasonable condition. Last time I ran it I had to be aided in the last 500 meters by an old school friend, who was running, and helping me cost him a 2hr finish! To make me feel better he managed to comfortably break 2 hours comfortably, finished in 1.53. I looked at the over 60's and my time would only have got me to 19th in my age group! Unbelievably the winner in the over 60's finished in 1.23.55! Me say me can't believe it! Steve Cunningham, Essington Harriers Running Club, DID IT 1.23.55 !!!!!!!!, There were another 4 over 60 finishers in under 1.44, OMG 😳 Even the over 70 did it in well under 2 hours!

Went in Millets today and a bunch of leaflets on the counter for the Stafford 10K 2023 - apparently 24th September.
Followed the web address mentioned which re-directs to Freedom-Leisure. Their page essentially says "watch this space" with no mention of the date.

Suspect numbers could be low as they've already missed out on the HM completion buzz that is usually capitalised on the same day.

E-mail today but still not open for 10k entries - just says watch social media.

There was somewhat of a survey attached so made comment about the lack of medium & large T's
