Hi and welcome to the forum.

Shrewsbury is in Shropshire and Stafford is in Staffordshire.

Its quite a difference between the two, about an hours drive if memory serves.

I used to have to go into Shrewsbury for work quite often and can say it is a very nice place with a lovely town centre, but you may be better off asking on a Shropshire/Shrewsbury forum for what it is like to live there.

As for Stafford its got pros and cons but in my opinion is nicer than any of the large surrounding conurbations and has some lovely countryside and villages near by, however so does Shrewsbury.

I strongly advise that you do not split the difference though, as that would put you in Telford!

Or Newport. Which might not be so bad. If you like Waitrose.

Used to live in Stafford, plus Shrewsbury for 6 months and work in Wellington so I knew that road well.....

Yes I forgot about Newport, and most of the small villages around and in between are pleasant I believe.

Really?

Staffordshire is a bloody big County- Newcastle to Tamworth and across to almost Wolverhampton covers quite an area, can you be more specific about where you will be commuting to?

You live in Stafford then Shrewsbury's nice to visit, you live in Shrewsbury then Stafford's nice to visit.

If i had the choice, i'd probably take Shrewsbury.

It's been many years since I went in the Shrewsbury. Is it still open?

I lived there for 6 months in 1990. Went back for the first time in years last November. It hasn't aged well from a shops kind of angle.

Feels a bit like Stafford in that regard. Almost empty shopping centres.

The department store was at the end of a very sad looking going out of business sale.

Also Costa offered me a slice of vegan gluten free pseudo Xmas cake. Yummy....
