Stafford post offices = RUDE staff

Now I have lived in Stafford for years, on the whole OK no worse or better than anywhere else.........BUT........The post office staff in every post office I have been in Stafford are so rude and miserable.

I sadly have to post an awful lot of parcels with my job and do it when ever and where ever I can so have used mostly all the post offices in the town. The main one is by far the worse, closely followed by all the others. I fail to see why every employee of the post office is so damd grumpy! Is it part of the application form? DOB, NAME, NI NUMBER, GRUMPY & RUDE Y/N did they all go to Victor Meldrew University????

I always say hello and try and be friendly but nothing back at all.
The customer is always wrong and it seems like its a total burden that I have come in to use one of their services and they want to get rid of me as quickly as possible with no interaction.

Ive found the only decent ones in Stafford to be Marston Road and Highfields where the Staff are very friendly, helpful and informative. So I suggest everyone go there (I always try to).

Any one else experience this?

Rant over.

Have to say ( and not for the sake of being deliberately arsey !) I agree . For years we have been trying to fathom why most of the POs are staffed by miserable gits ? Case in point Rising Brook where I'm afraid to say one member of staff was way down the bottom of the queue when it came to manners, smiles and general good vibes . Everyone has their own particular "issues" to deal with in life but this woman must have a trailerload delivered daily !!

Ok fair enough there are issues to do with job prospects/redundancy /closures etc I accept that . Thing is everyone is going through the same mucky mire as each other nothing is certain and very little can be relied on . Personally I find it easier to cope with my rapier like wit (?) and a devil may care smile when I'm working with the public or in other words I try to act like a professional!..sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn't ..and after all manners maketh man ..or woman !

To recap ..I would agree with the previous posters recommendations ..got to marston road or highfields !

As a big Ebayer and sender of loads of parcels i totally agree! The main po is the worst by far, i dont bother anymore. The best is Marston Road, closely followed by the one at Bodmin Avenue.

Tried the one on the wolvo road, near the star and garter? They've always been very friendly when I've used them, didn't mind me getting boxes of live insects sent there either :)

I agree that Marston Rd is the best, Littlworth has to be by far the worse closely followed by the Main one in town.

I should have mentioned that one, especially as my mate is Post mistress there.

I know exactly who you are talking about, incredibly un-friendly and un-helpful.

Indeed. A couple of weeks ago I was in the main PO and needed to get my passport application checked...I was first greeted by one woman who waved me onto her colleague next to her. He was slouched in his chair and hardly lively! I told him what I wanted and he replied with "Oh, do I have to?". He then proceeded with checking my application amongst several yawns and comments about his desire to go home! And just to rub it in, I was charged £7 for the passport checking service! £7 for 2 minutes "work" by a lethargic Neanderthal! Outrageous!

I had to post a letter today, quite a rare occaision, and I was damned if I was going to go to the one in WH Smiths, so I went up to the Marston Road PO instead. Is anyone else boycotting the WH Smiths branch or has anyone used it?

I agree with Tek-Monkey the one on the Wolverhampton Road is pretty good, friendly and very helpful its run by a lovely couple who live in the area. Its never too busy so no queing for ages and they are always glad of new customers.

I haven't used the WHS post office yet and I haven't heard any positive reports about it. I don't need to use the Post Office regulary and try to use the local one when I do.

There's soon to be a 7ft working Post Box in Sainsburys.
Seriously? Will they be able to take parcels there? That's the one thing I miss about Castletown Post Office closing - I have no way of sending anything which needs weighing outside office hours.

There's been a post box in Sainsbury's for yonks....it's between the pharmacy and the toilets. You can't weigh stuff there, but in a previous job I'd send all the customers' orders from there, and that usually consisted of a good 3/4 dvd boxes in the same Jiffy bag, and you could squeeze 'em in. Maybe they're gonna make the hole bigger so you can put parcels in it.

I had to send something recorded delivery yesterday so went to check out the new post office in Smiths........Big mistake, I started at about 5th in the queue and took about 15 minutes to be served as there was only 3 people serving, by the time I left the queue must of been about 20 'deep' so to speak. Won’t be going there again! And the staff don't really give a crap that you've had to wait for ages, not even a 'sorry about the wait', but they’re cheerful enough when they’re gossiping between themselves!
