Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

The Coach and Horses would be a sad loss as it's regulars would then have to find somewhere else and ruin that instead.
We couldn't believe what that pub had become the last time we were in town and about to go in , until we saw bouncers on the door and the clientele trying to get in. ( and others being slung out)

Used to go in there regularly years ago in 70's & very early 80's when it was in the days of Ray ( Till?). He was my dad's old scrumping mate and we knew him well.

I last went there in the late 90s ....awfull full of druggies and drug dealers

Yes, Ray Till, definitely one of the best publicans in town.

What happened to the plan to split the old sports direct into multiple units, and residential on the top floor ? , Noticed the whole lot is now just up for auction.

I don't think that end of the town is a attractive or viable investment for retail anymore

The service department is still open at stoneacre.

As of 31st January 2023, our New Car Peugeot sales department has closed and our Used Car Sales team has relocated to our Stoneacre Stafford dealership on Astonfields Road, to join the New Car Kia, Dacia, Renault, and Fiat departments.
