Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

This thread was started in March 2012 and the first post hinted towards "turning into a host town at this rate" so we got there eventually!
Had a walk into town today, and I'm guilty of not doing that enough, and went to have a stroll through what's left of the Guildhall!
I didn't realise access had been sealed off near Redrum as well as the back end, so I didn't bother with the rest!
I did meet a friend for coffee in the relatively new "Time" which is an independent cafe, next to Elements, that also displays that it buys its coffee from here in Staffordshire, from Chartley coffee. Decent price, a friendly welcome and nice surroundings. Give them a go.

You'd be surprised how north they can grow!

Forty years after a vineyard in South Staffordshire global warming is getting very serious.

Old Job centre on Greyfriars, planning for flats refused again
Reading through the documents (yes i'm bored waiting for my 4pm finish)
Change of use to residential for the first floor refused as 2 of the flats didn't have enough natural light.
Also the change of use for the 2nd and 3rd floor has expired.
So back to square one.

That place needs to be razed to the ground, not converted.
Stil say they missed a trick not raising the lot to the ground instead of building more empty retail units that'll no doubt stay empty.

They could have built a nice little housing estate there.
