I once watched a live stream of Stafford Rangers . I think they’ve since died
Reports about her death are gravely misleading! :ohno: She's definitely not died Delta!
However the once grand old lady is very, very ill! With little signs this season, of a recovery! What this space, UTB

Foxearth 4x4 on the Hough was looking very devoid of cars to sell and workmen were putting up fencing was going up around it.

I'm assuming this is the first steps in it turning into a burger king, assuming that is still a (delicious flame grilled) plan.

They've strimmed the weed covered land opposite too. Rumours of a McDonalds opening there years ago. Nothing on the planning map though.

The carer heard rumors before Christmas, that a new small local bed shop (3 stores in Staffordshire already) was going to take the store when Foxearth left the premises.

The McDonald's plans were for the site where Starbucks is. Someone had wanted to sell cars on the land opposite but it didn't have legs.

Looks like County Motors/Harvey's Autos have done a runner. Seen comments saying the cars were all removed yesterday evening/night.

Harvey's Autos Ltd also went into liquidation in June, owing creditors over £1.6 million (£1.3 million of that was to a company owned by several of the directors though).

So I guess the other company can now reduce its tax liability by £1.3m?

Wonder if they'll actually bother creating a new one or if they'll just demolish it and that'll be it...
Before I get my head bitten off - is there really any need for a market nowadays really? A lot of what was sold in there you can get from the supermarkets, B&M or Home Bargains. EBay or Amazon In some cases a lot cheaper too.
We used to go in when there was a choice of Butchers and Fruit n Veg stalls. They disappeared years ago. I had to go to Sainsburys or Asda to get stuff.

From reading comments - it doesn't seem like there are plans for a stop gap market between the closure and the opening of the coop.

Cynically my guess would be they will be select on who they rent out too in the coop and many of the existing market stalls don't fit the vision the council have.

It does feel there's an oppertunity to lease what was wilkos for a non food market hall

Some of the stuff in there is double the price compared to other shops in Stafford.

I think the council/management company will be selective of the stalls that go into the new place.

It would be interesting to know what the current occupancy rate is in the market. Bet most of the people complaining on Facebook etc about it closing haven't been in there for years too.
