Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Yes, I believe a lot of people have stopped using them because of what happened. It's a shame as Narvanas food was my favourite in Stafford.
Yes. I will start using a different place and if Wednesday and Friday are anything to go but, others are too.

Is the fish and exotic pet shop closing down , seen a board going up saying 9a hunters row for sale / to let ?

they have moved everything into the front half, so not much pet stuff anymore mostly fish and the back room is empty so that is probably what's for sale/let.

They posted this on Facebook in January...

"People of Stafford we once again need your help!

You may have seen the ongoing changes in our Store – We have made the difficult decision to condense the shop and focus on what we know and love! We still have the same amazing range of Fish, Reptiles and Small Animals you’ve all come to love seeing within our store!

Now we are looking for ideas and interest in all the left over space we have!

Option 1 – We have a huge space upstairs that was once use as part of Argos’ Warehouse, we’d love to welcome a resident groomer into that space! Whether it be an empty room for someone to furnish with their own equipment (so just rent the space) or fully fitted and ready to go – and just rent a table by the day.

Option 2 – Our back area that we used to use as part of the shop is approx. 2500sq ft, would anyone/ several people be looking to rent this area as a whole (All bills inc) This could either be done as running it as you see fit (we’d love to see it used for something such as a social market! Us like many people of Stafford are missing our marketplace – so if there’s enough interest this could be split into 6 – 8 “stall spaces”)

Or if rented as a showroom space - we think would make an ideal showroom for larger items like sofas, beds, furniture etc.
This area can be accessed through our busy pet shop or can have its own access from the front, and a loading bay to the rear.

We could look to man this part of the shop alongside our day to day and take orders for the stock in there - this means someone could just supply the stock and we could do the rest for a % of sales."

I see the boarding has gone up around the co-op and guildhall, I suppose we might see something happening soon.

"Indoor Market has now been stripped out - full external demolition to begin in 3 weeks

Work is now ongoing to safely separate the clock town from the market. A full survey will begin on the tower shortly. It is then expected that a full demolition will take place including the multi-storey carpark, indoor market and guildhall (excluding the protected areas)

Specialist asbestos teams will soon be working within the former co-op building. External demolition is then expected to begin in 1-2 months.

Designated viewing areas will be set up to allow the public to safely observe the work."

Wait for a bank holiday, the whole lot from County Woodware to the Bath Street lock up will come down, you mark my words!

Should add the old m+s to the list.

Bobobo on Salter Street have closed down.

There's a post on Facebook saying the place was being emptied today.

£5 for a Boba Tea and not even on the high street is honestly not that surprising.

Especially as the actual Boba was extra
