Cannock used to have a sign saying it was a nuclear free zone or something. I think it related to making nuclear weapons and components.

Wilko will be gone soon. Credit cover has been pulled for suppliers and now on stop by most suppliers due to no payment or late payments. No stock = no sales.
Suppliers have been telling them what the customer wants for the past few years and they chose to ignore that.
Can't believe they have held on this long to be honest, the last few times i've been in the shelves have been 1/3 full at best.
They have gotten rid of tills but even their self service tills look more like the ones the cashiers used to use that they have simply turned around rather than a purpose built system for customers to use.

Used to go in Wilkos a lot, mainly for toiletries. Stopped because they were way dearer than Sainsbugs. A can of Dove deodorant was almost a quid more last time I went in.

The self scan tills are never open either, always just manned till & I much prefer to self scan.

I’m very surprised they’ve gone this long as well to be honest

The only notable thing they had was the Pick and Mix being cheap, and that’s not that cheap even when half off. Plus I just… don’t especially like using Pick and Mix any more as it’s all been fondled by someone’s kid anyway. Someone needs to make a nicer system for that stuff.

I'll be sorry to see it go, it had its uses, but I'm guessing Home Bargains and B&M have taken a lot of its custom.
