Really ???'Neglected' Stafford town centre compared to Beirut after shop closures and M&S relocation

The closure of several shops and the relocation of Marks & Spencer prompted a borough councillor to compare a Staffordshire town to Beirut.
Everyone in Beirut knew making Stafford their twin town was a mistake.Everyone knew that the last thing Stafford needed was a new shopping centre. It would just move shops out of the high street.
There used to be a sign in Meir, by the tunnel on the A50, saying "Tinned with Beirut".Everyone in Beirut knew making Stafford their twin town was a mistake.
Which was always odd, as at the time it looked like a nuclear bomb had been dropped on the place.Cannock used to have a sign saying it was a nuclear free zone
Not a good choice of colour on that sign.Which was always odd, as at the time it looked like a nuclear bomb had been dropped on the place.
Stone always used to have a sign claiming it was an anal Town, as I recall.
Sad but I didn't even know it existed, to be honest.Times closed.
We were going to order from there the other week as it always smells delicious, but the cost was around £15 per main, way more expensive than our goto Narvarna which is about £9.00 per main. Shame .
Used to go in Wilkos a lot, mainly for toiletries. Stopped because they were way dearer than Sainsbugs. A can of Dove deodorant was almost a quid more last time I went in.Wilko will be gone soon. Credit cover has been pulled for suppliers and now on stop by most suppliers due to no payment or late payments. No stock = no sales.
Suppliers have been telling them what the customer wants for the past few years and they chose to ignore that.
Can't believe they have held on this long to be honest, the last few times i've been in the shelves have been 1/3 full at best.
They have gotten rid of tills but even their self service tills look more like the ones the cashiers used to use that they have simply turned around rather than a purpose built system for customers to use.
The self scan tills are never open either, always just manned till & I much prefer to self scan.Wilko will be gone soon. Credit cover has been pulled for suppliers and now on stop by most suppliers due to no payment or late payments. No stock = no sales.
