Brave, and I wish them luck as in this age of streaming unsure if people want physical media. That said if they get their offering right, it might be successful. My daughter is heavily into anime, metal boxes etc, if they go down that route there is a market. If however they go for the used copy of Mrs Brown's Boys series 3, not so much.
My thoughts exactly.... But for me it would only be for blu ray and UHD blu ray....

From looking at the window, boxsets are going as low as £5 for complete seasons, like friends complete £5, and I overheard cex the other day gave someone just under £2 for 60 DVDs the other day, so still money to be made.

Also although streaming serves a purpose, not every movie is available on streaming, and I find the likes of Amazon / Disney aren't updated that often , and if you're looking to rent a movie , it's still cheaper to get a physical copy and bin it if you want or give it to charity.

For example, I had never seen Good Will Hunting till I noticed the trailer for it online, wasn't available on streaming , so I'd have to rent it for like £3.50 off Play movies or something, picked up the dvd in cex for £1.50.

I wish Sainsburys would poach him, he's just adorable.

Apart from the fact it's on my doorstep, I find the majority of staff in Sainsburys lovely and helpful.
Mentioning no names, but I did sort of nominate one for the excellent service doodah. I believe she received a candle that smelt of cat wee.
But Sainsbury don't care about the staff I know some have left recently and others who didn't get a goodbye. A card or a Kiss my A. Nada..11 years working there.. Poor show Sainsbury can do one

I was talking generally that people have moved away from physical media, space, ease, convenience all add up. Good will hunting as per your example, I could stream it now if I wanted, as I might want to watch it now, or I could go on music magpie or to cex and have it with me in between an hour or 4 days. However for the right product people will always choose physical media. I have a Spotify account but it doesn't stop me spending on vinyl and CDs.

I use a discs in my PS5. I buy physical media for it as the games have a resale value when I have finished playing them. Occasionally buy a CD to rip into my iTunes library. It then gets put in a box and forgotten about.

This this and this.

I'm fed up wanting to watch a film, it not being on the streaming sites and having to hunt one down in charity shops. I've started increasing my dvd collection again of classics I'd like to watch more than once.

Katherine House shop has dvds 3 for a pound so ive basically collected the whole Disney dvd range over the past few months for less than £20. I'm hedging that soon Disney will remove their films from any medium bar Disney monthly subscription, which I don't want to subscribe to just to watch the odd classic.

Love netflix but there is definitely a time and a place to have a dvd of favourites for repeat viewing!

And sometimes that time and place is a caravan holiday and you have to work out what you might want to watch in the next week and bring it with you.

Currently in Worcestershire in my motorhome. Decided to give Peaky Blinders a go. Bought from Musicmagpie exactly for the reason you say.

Interesting. That’s quite a few shops in Stafford, gonna be a fire sale on rental properties soon then…

Anyone know what is moving into Just 4 Jents, which sadly closed down a few weeks ago? I saw some action within as I meandered past today. Can't be sure but it looked like a large deep fat fryer & display cabinet as well as other bric-a-brac. Could have been a very long photocopier. Alas, I didn't gawp through the window. Ideal place for a chippie! Well, I think it is.
