Works started on the new garages, sales office and service sites moving into the vacant land next to the old job centre.

I'd have thought it'd be better clearing the lot and turning it to a housing estate tbh.

Hopefully once that's completed , someone will buy and start work on the job centre.

I thought someone already owned the old Job Centre, but the council didn't like their idea of turning it into apartments?

Seems to be a philosophy these days doesn't it, leaving reasonable state buildings to just rot and decay away. I take it it's about the 'root of all evil' but I've never really understood it.

Think it was a contractor company. Certainly someone my wife deals with but I switch off when she talks building and contractors.

Edit. Just been informed that I need to take that name off and they only bought the land adjacent to the job centre.

Although that was private not the council? Was for sale in 2009 when I bought mine but they wanted 250k for it despite the work needed. Iirc it ended up selling for under 150k a year later.

They did an awesome job of renovating this place, but such a nasty location. Makes no sense!
