Another move, Heavenly Helen the Holistic Healer of Church lane is moving to the Octagon Building.

She describes the Octagon building as having "the most sacred geometry and finally tuned healing energy " which I don't remember it having when I had an office on the 3rd floor of that building.

Nor attending lectures in any of the lecture theaters after a heavy night in Legends.........

Yes, I'm sure my life would be much worse if I didn't live a quarter of a mile from it.

There was a planning application to change the frontage, probably to make it more retail than bank. The theory being it'll be easier to rent.

They are one if the few things I pop into town for to buy in person
The market for cards is declining quite dramatically though, especially from a specialist shop (as supermarkets do them nice and cheap), so opening one up in an expensive high street unit doesn’t seem like the best business decision ever

Staffordshire Co-op shut for more than decade can now be bulldozed

Stafford Borough Council has bought the iconic town center building for redevelopment

Plans to regenerate Stafford town center have moved forward after councillors gave the green light for demolition of an iconic former shop. The former Co-op Department Store in Gaolgate Street closed more than a decade ago and remains vacant. Last year Stafford Borough Council agreed to buy the site and transform it into residential and commercial space as part of a Government-funded regeneration project in the town center. Proposals for its redevelopment include a food court and market space, with a planning application set to come forward in the coming months.
Now members of the borough council's planning committee have approved a separate application for demolition of the 1970s building. The 1930s façade fronting Gaolgate Street is set to be retained.

Ward councillor Julian Thorley, who spoke in support of the demolition application, said: "It's good for the town, especially the north of the town centre where much redevelopment is necessary. We have got to do the demolition to carry forward the plans further down the line."

Committee member Councillor Marnie Phillips raised concerns about potential noise impact on operators of a local radio station based nearby during the demolition process however, as well as measures to prevent trespassers accessing the site. She said: "We know historically there have been people on the roof of that building - is it going to be secure enough to stop people getting in?"

A report to the committee said 2.4m timber hoarding would be retained around the boundary of the site. It added: "The applicant wishes to proceed with the demolition of the building with a view to redevelopment of the site; it is advised that a full planning application is likely to be submitted in 2024 for a scheme comprising a mix of residential and commercial space.

"Whilst it is noted that there is some risk that the site would not be developed in the near future, given the location of the site within Stafford town center, it is considered that redevelopment is likely and would clearly be in the interests of the applicant. However it is considered that it is necessary in the interests of visual amenity to limit the height of any stockpiles of crushed clean brickwork and concrete to no higher than 3m."

Nice to see our local councillors having their finger on the pulse as ever since the radio station has already declared it's moving to Beaconside

A fence has been put around the old gec / Aviva / high voltage factory. Presumably on the orders of the new owners ?
*Something's been going on in there for the last few weeks, a porta cabin has been placed around the back, & everyday there have been about 5 blokes in hi vis, in the back... On Sunday night there were a group of kids trying to get into the building ..maybe that's why the fencing has been erected....up untill Sunday I'd seen a security guard in the porta cabin, but couldn't see him Sunday night...

About 2 weeks ago there was some fancy drilling machine in the back too... But that's gone now.

*My staff car park backs onto this, and I'm very nosey...

The Works is opening a store this autumn at Riverside Shopping Center
The Works is finally returning to Stafford 3 years after being told to vacate the Guildhall shopping center. The owners of the Guildhall at the time were private investors and not the council.
Statement:
"We are delighted to be opening a brand-new store in Stafford. The c. 2,316 sq. ft. store will be located at the Riverside Stafford Shopping Center which is a fantastic location right in the heart of Stafford and a hive of retail activity"
